Top Severna Park Patch Stories from November

November was a busy month for Severna Park news. Patch reported on a Severna Park Middle School custodian donating a kidney to save his brother, a number of accomplishments for local businesses, as well as some odd news stories as well.

• Taphouse, formally known as Rodz n Rydz, underwent a makeover to encourage a more family friendly environment.

• Severna Park Middle School custodian Dovell Johnson donated a kidney to save his brother's life, but it was the school that rallied around Johnson to offer support.

Police Searching For Missing Millersville Teen

• Many of you expressed your concern when a Millersville teen went missing from her home. A few days later, police reported that she was found safe and unharmed. 

• Superstorm Sandy struck Severna Park at the end of October, but it was this Nov. 1 post featuring before and after photos of Sandy in Round Bay that drew a lot of attention.

Severna Forest Resident Aids Sandy Victims

• When residents of Highlands, NJ needed help after Sandy, Severna Park residents jumped to assist them in any way they could. They donated supplies and even made trips to the NJ town to help out. 

‘Suspicious’ Severna Park Man Visits Sikh Shooting Site

• A Severna Park man was detained at Oak Creek Sikh Temple, the site of an August mass shooting in Wisconsin, for suspicious behavior in November. He reportedly had boxes of ammunition in his car but was not arrested by police.

SPHS Students Shine in ‘Les Mis’

• Students at Severna Park High School shined in their production of Les Misérables. The entire cast is exceptional. However, Jean Valjean, who was played by Austin Heemstra, left you wondering if you just watched a Broadway production.
