SP Volunteers Will Travel to NJ for Sandy Relief

A busload of volunteers will leave from Severna Park High School on Saturday morning and head to Highlands, NJ.

Volunteers from Severna Park will head to Highlands, NJ on Saturday to help with Hurricane Sandy relief, and it’s not too late for you to get involved.

After , Severna Forest residents Kristen Renick and Jeanette Middleton Sudano decided people there needed more than just donations—they needed actual help. So they have organized another trip and this time they are bringing volunteers.

“The clean up situation and daily routine the community faces is enormous,” Renick wrote in an email. “They need more and we are going back.”

A busload of local volunteers will leave from Severna Park High School at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and return around 10 or 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. The entire effort is possible thanks in large part to a Pasadena resident.

Barbara Bayer owner of Woodlawn Motor Coach has donated a 44-passenger bus that Renick and Middleton Sudano are hoping to fill with volunteers. However, they still need more people.

“People are needed to help clean houses out, unload deliveries, organize the pantry, and sort and fold clothes,” Renick wrote.

All volunteers planning on going to Highlands should bring work gloves, work boots/shoes, and a change of clothes.
