Severna Park High School Students Hit a High Note at Band Camp
Patch stopped by Severna Park High School to find more than 100 kids enjoying Band Camp.
Band camp kicks off the marching band's season with five 10-hour days filled with rehearsals, breaks for dinner and lots of fun.
"You see 100 young people out there, in this warm weather, you've got to get excited," said Music Director R. Thomas Powell, who has been with the high school for 45 years. "They are giving up their time in order to do a marching band activity. If a person in a leadership position does not get excited about that, nothing will ever excite them. It's just such a neat thing to watch. I love just being with the kids. That's the best part of my job."
This summer marks the 43rd year for Band Camp at Severna Park High School.
