Rotary Scholarship Winner From Severna Park

Midshipman Emily Frost receives $30,000 Global Grant.

This week's Patch Whiz Kid is Midshipman Emily Frost, submitted to Patch by Mary Felter of the Annapolis Rotary Club:

The Rotary’s District 7620 Scholarship Committee under Chair Dr. Carl Schneider of Annapolis recently interviewed seven scholars and selected a winner and alternate for each of the Global Grant and Ambassador Scholarships offered for the 2011-2012 school year.

            Midshipman Emily Frost of Severna Park, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Annapolis, received the $30,000 Global Grant. These Rotary grants support large international activities with sustainable high-impact outcomes in one or more of six areas of focus and have a long-term impact.

            Midshipman Frost has a grade point average of 4.0 and is a dual major in English and mathematics. She intends to pursue a master of science in Operations Research with a track in epidemiology at the University of Melbourne, Australia. The alternate for this award is Sara Hundt, sponsored by the Bethesda Rotary club.

                       The District Scholarship Committee is pleased to select these ambassadors and scholars to promote the ideals of Rotary throughout the world.
