is owned by George Hepburn, a resident  of Linstead.   The Severna Park branch of BankAnnapolis is conveniently located at 50 West McKinsey Road.   Dana Eckert, branch manager, is the 2011 President of the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce.

The parade theme is SALUTE TO PATRIOTS OF LIBERTY.  We are proud to honor four World War II veterans as our 2011 Grand Marshals.  They are Charles Brown of Severna Park, Marion Titus of Pasadena, John Barnett of Severna Park, and Jean Showe of Severna Park.

One of the facets of the parade that is unique to Severna Park is the Decorated Bike Contest for our youngest residents.  Youngsters can congregate on Holly Avenue where the Chamber is located.  Registration for the contest is from 9:15  to 10 a.m. when children can enter their decorated bikes, tricycles and wagons into a competition for Most Original, Most Beautiful, and Most Patriotic.

Prizes are sponsored by, , and Annette’s Cakery.   The children will enter the parade at Holly Avenue, with the contest winners leading off.  They will ride to of Severna Park, where there is a designated holding area where they can meet their parents.

Older children and adults who wish to ride bikes in the parade may enter at and ride the entire parade route with Pedal Pusher’s Bike Brigade.  No registration for the Bike Brigade is required; just ride over to Our Shepherd prior to the 10 a.m. parade start.

The Festival at Cypress Creek Park continues after the parade until 1:30 p.m.  where there will be great food, a pony ring, Moon Bounce, Fun Bus, rock climbing wall, and much more!  Plan to participate in the Punt, Pass and Kick contest sponsored by the Green Hornets.

Enjoy some great jazz provided by John Tegler’s jazz band, which will be in the parade and then set up at the Festival for your continued enjoyment.  Jing Ying Institute of Kung Fu & Tai Chi will have a great demonstration as well.   Visit the information booths, and enjoy a gelato or a snoball.

The hot dogs, hamburgers, pit beef and pit turkey sandwich sales all benefit the Kiwanis, Men of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, and the Severna Park Elks.  The Festival is a fund raising opportunity for local charities.

We appreciate the support of WNAV at the Festival, and also Beacon Electric.  Beacon Electric takes care of the electrical needs at the Festival, and has for years.  The Severn River Lions Club will be handing out their refreshing popsicles at the end of the parade, and this has been one of their longtime traditions in Severna Park.

In addition to Dynasplint Systems and Bank Annapolis, we also wish to acknowledge the Festival sponsors, and they are:  PNC Bank, Helix Construction, Homestead Gardens, Severna Park Marketplace, Park Plaza, Servpro of Annapolis and Severna Park, and Elmore, Throop and Young, PC.  We also wish to thank Absolute Party for their valued support.  Special thanks goes to Anne Arundel County Police and our valued Reserve Officers for helping make this event possible.

We are looking forward to sharing Independence Day with you again this year.  The members of the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce are pleased to sponsor this event for our community.  We encourage you to support local business, and if you’d like a referral to a Chamber of Commerce business, please call 410-647-3900!  See you at the parade!
