Annapolis New Year's Eve Celebration

Downtown Annapolis will become party central filled with performances, family friendly activities and two fireworks displays. The festivities kick off Friday Dec. 31 from 3:00 to midnight, all centered in a heated tent at the City Dock in Annapolis.

The family themed events start early at 3:00 p.m. with activities. Then at 5:30 p.m., the family friendly entertainment starts and finishes with an early bird fireworks display at 7:30. It's perfect for families with young ones who aren't looking for an all night event.

Jenelle Murph, Development and Special Projects Coordinator for the City of Annapolis, said New Year's Eve Annapolis is a night kids won't want to miss.

"The Chesapeake Children's Museum will have some great activities, like a New Year's around the world display where kids can experience a variety of New Year's themes and celebrations," said Murph.

Murph said the best places to watch the fireworks show are from City Dock at Susan Campbell Park. She said great views can also be had from Main Street as well as any public area northeast of the Severn River or any of the street-end parks facing Spa Creek. Of course, since the fireworks are on a barge any boat in the city harbor is also a fantastic place to see the show.

Then at 8:00 p.m. the party really gets started for the adults with more music, featuring the 8 Ohms band. At 10:00 p.m. the band Higher Hands starts their set and the fun and festivities continue to midnight with a final fireworks show over the harbor.
