Manhattan Beach Fall Festival Brings in a Crowd

The Patch had its eye on you over the weekend. Check out who was "scene."

The eclectic community of Manhattan Beach held its annual Fall Festival at the community clubhouse with hundreds of residents coming out to celebrate the gorgeous afternoon. Margo Murray has chaired the party for the last six years. This year she was assisted by a vivacious posse made up of Julie Maggio, Jodi Roberts and Carleen Birnes.

According to Margo, Manhattan Beach is home to more than 500 families and has been around for about 70 years. While some still remain, many of the old style beach bungalows have given way to newer and grander waterfront homes. However it still retains an old-time, beach-based Severna Park flavor. Barbara and Gerry Ridgeway have lived in the neighborhood for 30 years. They are thrilled to see so many young families migrating to here. "It's so nice to see all of these young people and their children enjoying the community the way we did with our family.  We have just loved living here," said Mrs. Ridgeway.

In addition to free snow cones, popcorn candy and a vast array of picnic fare, the crowd was treated to live music played by the popular local group Zambezi, headed up by Lakin Ducker and Tom Bodor. Check out the photos to see who was "scene."
