It's That Time of Year: Hayrides, Corn Mazes and Pumpkin Picking

There's a bounty of fun waiting for Severna Park residents looking for a family field trip.

October means its time to pick pumpkins, go on a hayride or solve a maze before Halloween. Call ahead to confirm information before you make plans to go.

Dick and Jane's Farm
Where: 4361 Solomons Island Rd., Harwood
When: Open Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday and holidays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why: Pumpkin patch (already gathered), corn maze, tractor-pulled hayrides, gift shop, concessions and produce stand

Greenstreet Gardens
Where: 391 West Bay Front Rd., Lothian
When: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why: Pumpkin patch (already gathered), corn maze, child-sized straw maze, tractor-pulled hay rides, haunted rides and trail, concessions and special events such as dog costume contests and pig and duck races

Why: Pumpkins (already gathered), apples, gourds, Indian corn, squash and fall décor; at the fall festival: straw maze, painting mini pumpkins, pony rides and games

When: Corn maze is open Saturdays and Sundays (through Nov. 6) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Haunted Sunrise is open after dark on weekends in October until 11 p.m.
Why: Pumpkins, corn maze (cash only: $9 for adults, $5 for children 5 to 12, free for children younger than 5); haunted dairy barns and hayride (cash only: $15 and not recommended for children younger than 10); haywagon rides ($4) and Kids Cow Train ($2)

Montpelier Farms

When: Open Friday from 5 to 11 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Nov. 6; special hours for Friday, Oct. 21, are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. (mention ad on website for $1 off admission price)
Why: Ten-acre corn maze, animal barn, pedal karts and tractors, hayrides, pig races and more (with paid admission of $10 for adults and $8 for youth)
