I-97 Southbound Lanes to Close This Weekend

State Highway officials said the two left lanes of southbound lanes will close to allow for concrete repairs.

Two lanes on southbound Interstate 97 will be closed this weekend to allow for pavement repairs. 

The State Highway Administration warned that the closures will affect a stretch between Route 100 and Route 3. The lanes are expected to be closed at about 6 p.m. Saturday and will be open by 5 a.m. Monday. 

Tonight the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will close the two left lanes ofsouthbound I-97 between MD 100 and MD 3 Business (Crain Highway) for pavement repairs in Anne Arundel County.  All lanes will be open by 5 a.m. Friday.  Additional lane closures will be required this weekend.

The work will involve repairing damaged concrete and placing new reinforcing steel and concrete. The concrete patches take about 24 hours to cure, and motorists are warned not to cross cones or other barriers onto closed lanes.
