Holy Grounds Gets $15K New Look

Home Depot's remodel of the Severna Park Community Center building is nearly complete.

If you walked into Holy Grounds this week you almost wouldn’t recognize it.

Gone are the plain colors, the rundown kitchen, the dark wood and the old floor. In its place is a fresh coat of paint, new kitchen appliances and an overall space that looks rejuvenated.

“It feels like a different space,” said community center director Jennie Boden. “And the care that has been put into it is beyond measure.”

With help from local volunteers, Home Depot gave Holy Grounds new paint, floors, cabinets and counter tops, in addition to a new refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and sink.

Holy Grounds offers a home for summer camps, weight management meetings, AA meetings and more. And because the space is used by so many different groups of people, many volunteers have given their time to help with the remodel.

“It’s really been a community generator event,” Boden said. “We’re just thrilled with it. And we should be back to full programing next week.”
