Great Weekend Ahead in Severna Park

Check out: Benefit for Cisco Center at SPHS, Stride for SPAN, Family Flea Market SP Evangelical Presbyterian, SPUMC Garage Sale, SP Heritage Day, Tournament of the Bands at SPHS and the Rec Deeds Triathlon.

Fri., Sept. 30

When/Where: Friday, September 30 at 7 p.m./, 60 Robinson Rd, Severna Park, MD

Why Go?:  Come enjoy an evening of performances by the many talented actors, singers and dancers at Severna Park High School.  This production, a collection of songs and skits is a community service project of the International Thespian Troupe at SPHS.  The Troupe is raising funds to benefit the Cisco Center, a non profit center serving children with special needs.  The Cisco Center lost their home due to fire in February 2010, funds are still needed to reopen their home in Severna Park. Sat., Oct. 1

When/Where:  Saturday, October 1 at 8 a.m./, 1001 Kinder Farm Park Rd, Millersville, MD

Why Go?:  Get a great start to your morning by participating in a fast and fun 5K run and Family Fun Walk to Benefit SPAN! Why Go?:    Great opportunity to find some free treasures!  This free family flea market will have clothes, books, toys and small household items. Attendees are welcome to help themselves to anything they might need.  Donations should be dropped off on Fri., Sept. 30 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

When/Where:  Saturday, October 1 at 8:30 a.m./, 731 Old Benfield Rd, Severna Park, MD

Why Go?:  This semi-annual sale is one of the largest in the area. The money raised from this event is used to support SPUMC's Volunteers in Mission program.

Pricing:  Free to attend.  Items are available for purchase.

When/Where: Saturday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m./, 623 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Severna Park, MD

Why Go?:  This is a family friendly event where you can learn about Severna Park and it’s history.  There will be music, a street fair, a history walk, SPOT meeting and presentations. Made-to-order subs, chips, soda and cookies will be available for purchase by the After-School Middle School (ASMS) program  from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Severna Park Community Center.

Last year's proceeds from the sub sale paid for Wi-fi wiring at the Holy Grounds Youth Center. This year, the group hopes make $300 towards the purchase of media equipment.

When/Where: Saturday, October 1 at 5 p.m./, 60 Robinson Rd, Severna Park, MD

Why Go?:  Come support your SPHS Marching Band as they host the Annual Tournament of the Bands. The following high school bands will compete:  Calvert High School, Meade High School, McDonough High School, Chesapeake High School, Broadneck High School and Old Mill High School. Severna Park High School Marching Band will perform the National Anthem at the beginning of the show and an exhibition show at the end of the tournament. There will be a full concession stand open for attendees to purchase food and drinks.  For additional information, email president@­SPHSmusic.­org

Sun., Oct. 2

When/Where: Sunday, October 2 at 8 a.m./, 9500 Fort Smallwood Rd, Pasadena, MD

Why Go?:  This triathlon is a great event for beginners and benefits Recreation Deeds for Special Needs.
