Flood Warning Issued for Anne Arundel County

(UPDATED)—The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for Anne Arundel and other parts of Maryland until midnight Friday, after two days of rain. There was also a flood warning issued Friday morning.

Anne Arundel County firefightersrescued a woman who was trapped in her car with her dog in rising waters in Hanover on Friday morning. Residents should not drive vehicles into areas where there is standing water. 

"Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road," warned the National Weather Service.

A flood watch means that there is the potential for flooding based on current forecasts, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service said that two to four inches has already fallen over the last two days and that several streams are reaching their banks or beginning to flood.
