Crabs, Musical Dance, a Concert and Canoes – Top the List for This Weekend’s Area Activities

For the weekend of August 4 - 6 choose from: Hairspray at the Annapolis Summer Theatre, Annapolis Rotary Crab Feast, Talent Machine's 'Can Can', First Friday Movie at Park Plaza, Canoe Excursion on Muddy Creek and the band "Hot Noodles".

Thurs. Aug. 4

  • Where/When: 143 Compromise St, Annapolis, MD 21401 (Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre)/Thurs., Fri., Sat., Sun. until Sept. 4 at 8:30 p.m.
  • Why Go?:  Baltimore-based musical set in 1962 features Tracy  Turnblad as a young overweight teen who wants to dance on the Corny Collins Show.  According to the Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre:  Important: You may pick your tickets up at the box office between 7:00-8:30pm on the night of the show.
    RAIN OUT POLICY: Because our theatre is outdoors, we must sometimes cancel a performance if it is actively raining or if the conditions are dangerous. If a performance is rained out and you have already purchased a ticket, you can:  Reschedule for another performance of the current show or another show in the future. You must make a new seat reservation and then exchange your rain-out ticket for the later performance.Receive a gift/ticket certificate good for any future performance. Certificates do not expire.

  • Why Go?:  This is the 66th year for this family friendly event!  All-you-can-eat-and-drink will also have a bake and cake raffle.  Phone: 877-333-9667.

  • Why Go?:  Opportunity to see “Grease” under the stars! Bring blanket or lawn chairs for seating.

Sat. Aug. 6

  • Where/When: 647 Contees Wharf Rd, Edgewater, MD 21037 (Smithsonian Environmental Research Center)/Saturday from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • Why Go?:  A guided excursion along the shores of Muddy Creek and the Rhode River where you will look for wildlife, eagles, shorebirds, reptiles and more.  Basic canoeing instruction will be given at the start.  This event is for those over 6 years of age and is limited to 16 participants.  Preregistration and payment are required.  To register, call (443) 482.2300.  Website: http://www.serc.si.edu/
  • Pricing: Cost is $14 per adult and $7 for children 6-12 years old

  • Where/When: 600 Quiet Waters Park Rd, Annapolis, MD 21403 (Quiet Waters Park)/Saturday from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
