Friday, July 22

Where/When: , 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Severna Park, MD 21146 / Friday from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Why Go?:  Great opportunity to watch and discuss an amazing film.  According to the Woods Newsletter:  Adults of all ages are invited to Woods on Friday, July 22 (7-10 p.m.), to watch the engaging and thought-provoking film Rabbit Proof Fence, a 2002 Australian drama based upon the book Follow the Rabbit-Proof Fence by Doris Pilkington Garimara. The movie is based on a true story concerning the author's mother, and two other mixed-race Aboriginal girls who were kidnapped from their families and placed in a settlement camp to be taught "white" ways in the 1930s.

The film follows the girls as they escape and walk for nine weeks along 1,500 miles of the Australian rabbit-proof fence to return to their true home and families, all the while being pursued by a white authority figure and an Aboriginal tracker.  Come enjoy an evening of free, enjoyable and air-conditioned entertainment, and then join in the conversation led by Rev. Elizabeth McLean about the theological themes implicit in this movie.  Movie snacks will be provided.  You are welcome to bring a bag supper. Room 208.
