Just as the weather is starting to turn, the Severna Park Community Center (SPCC) is offering free flu shots.
This year's flu shots will be provided by Anne Arundel Medical Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17 in the SPCC gym.
On Oct. 3, state health officials announced a child was confirmed to have the first case of flu this season in Maryland. The announcement came about two weeks earlier than when the first case was reported last year.
Weekly walk-in flu vaccination clinics started in Anne Arundel County on Oct. 2. The clinics are held at the Parole and Glen Burnie health centers. Vaccines are free for county residents, but donations are accepted.
