Burn Off Your Turkey at the SPCC

The Severna Park Community Center is offering deals and discounts so you can burn off those extra Thanksgiving Day calories.

The average person consumes more than 4,500 calories on Thanksgiving Day, according to an article in the New York Times.

But if you wake up Friday morning thinking of all the stuffing, gravy, turkey, mashed potatoes and pies you ate on Thursday, don’t worry—the Severna Park Community Center can help you take those pounds back off.

From 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, the community center will offer Aquatics Second Annual Turkey Burnoff, where current members can workout for free.

According to SPCC director Jennie Boden, all you have to do is show your current weight room/open lap pass and you can use the center’s facilities without using up one of your passes. If you aren’t currently a member, you can buy a one-day pass for half-off at $2.75.

“The idea behind it is that Thanksgiving was a day spent lounging and eating and now you can work that off,” Boden said. “Or it’s an alternative to Black Friday shopping.”
