Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness:  Katie Bartel summarized the key to her daughter’s achievement as follows, “Bailey’s drive, focus and commitment is years beyond her time.  She has shown incredible sportsmanship in a judged sport and has not faltered from her goals and dreams.”

Bailey qualified to compete in the North American National Championships in TN on July 2, 2011 by being ranked 15th in the Southern Region Oireachtas (from MD south to TX East).

Other achievements and accomplishments include:

  • Her 8-hand team (8 person ceili team) won 1st place at Oireachtas
  • Her 16-hand team took 2nd place at Oireachtas
  • Member of Teelin School of Irish Dance "Peanut" Performing Troupe
  • Performed in Teelin's production of "Portraits of Ireland" in March at the Weinberg Theater
  • Principal's Honor Roll Student
  • Girl Scout
  • Junior Piano lessons for 4 years
  • Won the AA County Science Fair last year

Bailey practices five days a week for up to two hours a session.  She hopes to qualify for World Championships within the next few years.  Her drive and determination will serve her well in reaching that goal.
