Asthma Camp for Children

This year, the annual camp sponsored by the Baltimore Washington Medical Center will be held at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church in Severna Park. Junior counselors are needed.

Children ages 6 to 12 with asthma are invited to Camp Airways, a summer camp sponsored by the .

This is the 24th summer for the week-long day camp that will run from Aug. 6-10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at in Severna Park. 

Campers will participate in a range of activities including asthma and nutrition education, arts and crafts, swimming and other outdoor activities, according to a press release.

The goal of the camp is to teach children with asthma how to live with and manage their condition, as well as provide opportunities to interact with other children with asthma.

According to the release, the medical center is seeking junior counselors to help with everyday camp activities. Junior counselors must be at least 15 years old and available to attend camp from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Responsibilities include serving as a mentor or “camp buddy” for two assigned campers and assisting campers with daily activities including arts and crafts, asthma education, swimming and other outdoor activities. All counselors must provide their own transportation to and from camp each day.
