Appreciated Teacher: Dana Henstrand of Oak Hill Elementary School Makes Art Creative and Fun

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, Patch is featuring Severna Park teachers who are stars among the students and families.

Art teacher Dana Henstrand is a favorite among the students, staff and families of Oak Hill Elementary School.  She has taught in the county for 20 years and at Oak Hill for the past two years.

Parent, Kara Morgan says "Not only does she fill the school hallway with beautiful and colorful art projects by the students, but she challenges the students to learn more than just drawing by teaching them about different artists and art history."

Here's what some of her students had to say:

"She's nice and very helpful. My favorite was when we did the snow runner project where you had to separate the sky from the runner and make him in different moving positions. I learned a lot from that." Paige Gunning

Steven Baibey thinks she is nice and his favorite thing to do in her class is paint. "She makes it fun."
