Annual Street Fair and Heritage Festival on Saturday

Spend a day in downtown Severna Park with plenty of activities, music, vendors, food and a walking tour. Severna Park Elementary School is celebrating their 75th anniversary with a booth, stop by!

is holding its annual street fair in conjunction with Severna Park Heritage Day this year.  Events will be held throughout the day on Saturday (Oct. 1). 

Our Saturday in the Park street fair is held on the section of Holly Avenue from Riggs Avenue to Evergreen Road.  The street is closed to traffic and the fair runs from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

One of the highlights will be a table staffed by in observance of their upcoming anniversary.  There will not only be an anniversary display, but Elaine Bachman, a curator at the Maryland Archives, will be at the booth to gather oral history from former students at the school.  This is a great chance to drop by and make your special elementary school memories a part of history!

At the gazebo in Hatton-Regester Green the Rock Creek Steel Band will be performing at 1 p.m.  There will also be plenty of activites for children, including Jeff Franklin of Franklin’s Toys reading various selections.  One popular book titled "Press Here" (for ages 3 and up) will be read at noon, so bring the children and come on over. 

A reader from Chesapeake Academy will also be reading to children.  Celebree Learning Center will have information and  children’s activities at their table along with their mascot Squiggle.

Lunch will be available from the Severn River Lions Club and Brusters Real Ice Cream is selling ice cream and their mascot Scoops is available to meet his fans! 

The will be open for visitors.  A member of the Severn River Lions has a train display that will delight the kids, and it will be set up across from the Chamber. 

An array of different vendors, artists and craftsmen will be on the street to sell their wares.  There is no fee to attend, and we hope you’ll stop by.  Other Severna Park Heritage Day events are scheduled for Severna Park Community Center. 

Scott Jay will be leading his famous history walk that morning and it’s always enlightening.  At , Serving People Across Neighborhoods (SPAN) will be holding a Fun Run/Walk.  It’s a day full of activities so come out and enjoy Severna Park Heritage Day and the Saturday in the Park Street Fair.
