American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Fundraiser

Cookie Lee Jewelry Party at Shipley's clubhouse raises over $600 towards the cause.

In remembrance of their dear friend Kim Jolliffe, who lost her battle to breast cancer two years ago, the "Kim's Krew" Relay Team  works hard to raise money for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Arnold/Annapolis. www.relayforlife.org/arnold

This year's local Relay for Life is being held at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds on May 13.

"The Relay For Life of Arnold Annapolis is an American Cancer Society event that raises money to fund programs for cancer patients at the Anne Arundel Medical Center, wigs, transportation to treatment, scholarships for childhood cancer survivors, and the list goes on,"  said team member Karen Agee.

"Last year, with the help of local businesses, community members and the dedication of 1000 plus local relayers, Relay For Life of Arnold/Annapolis  raised $215,000," said Agee.

The  members of "Kim's Krew" held a Cookie Lee Jewelry Party on April 14  at the Shipley's Choice Club house where friends, family and neighbors gathered to show their support for the cause.

The next fundraising event for "Kim's Krew"  is on April 28 from 8 to 10 p.m. at Bill Bateman's Bistro in Severna Park where Beth Peterson and Kim Loving  will be guest bartending  at 9 p.m.

There will be a  50/50 raffle, and auctions. Last year this event raised over $900 for the Relay team. Contact Karen Agee for team tickets at the4agees@verizon.net.

Kim’s Krew started as one team, but has grown to three teams, two of which are led by high school students.

Elara Cunningham, a team member of "Kim's Krew 3" writes on her personal page for the 2011 Relay For Life:

"Almost everyone has been touched by cancer, either through their own personal battle or through someone they love. Nobody knows how, when, or if cancer will affect them. But through your generous donations, The American Cancer Society can help us stay well by preventing cancer or finding it at its earliest, most treatable stages."

"A donation from you would make this web site have more survivor stories, like my mom's. A donation from you would help make a world with less cancer and more birthdays! Don't let cancer steal another year of anyone's life- please make a contribution to Relay!"
