A Jewel of an Idea for Children at Zachary's

Once a month bring the kids with you for some fun and games in a friendly nook at the Severna Park store while you get your jewelry errands done.

Challie Samaras had a huge smile on her face as the door opened to of Severna Park. And it’s no wonder. Holiday the Clown was in the house.

Wait a minute.  Zachary’s Jewelry? Clowns? Yes, the Park’s newest
jewelry store has introduced a long-standing tradition from the downtown Annapolis version of Zachary’s, featuring family entertainment on the first Wednesday morning of every month. (First Tuesdays are reserved for the Annapolis store.)

This month was Holiday’s turn; other months feature songstress Bridget Michaels or story tellers, for example.

Challie and , the stores’ proprietors, have seen how keeping the kids busy for an hour while the adults shop is a win-win situation. With toys, edible goodies and entertainment to distract and occupy the little ones, parents can get rings re-sized, pieces cleaned, or peruse the display cases for that special something, uninterrupted.

Just ask local mom, Kelly Accinelli who just happened to choose
this past Wednesday to stop in for a watch for her husband. She had all three kids with her and, as she said, she “scored,” when she walked in and happened to spy a fun event going on in the back of the shop, just for kids. Now all four of them would enjoy this outing. What a treat.

Precocious Avery, 5, was the first to chime in for the guessing games while her sister Emerson, 3, and  little brother 1-year-old Grant, were mesmerized.

Carol “Holiday” Coleman has been “clowning around” for over 30 years in Severna Park and environs and spoke of her love for children of all ages.  Coleman actually teaches the art of clowning around the country and had just returned from one such trip to Branson, MO. That clown gets around!

All clowning around aside, this is a terrific opportunity for some kiddie enjoyment while mom or dad, or both, take advantage of the many services at Zachary’s.

Save 10 a.m. on the first Wednesday of every month and bring the kids in for an hour of diversion. Don’t forget that bracelet with the broken clasp or the ring that needs a prong.

It really is win-win Wednesdays at Zachary’s.
