5 Things You Need to Know, Week of Oct. 15

Patch offers a rundown of things you need to know this week, including Halloween costume contests and big county news from the weekend.

To help make your week easier, Patch has compiled a list of things you need to know for the upcoming week.

1. The weather
Temperatures should be a little warmer this week. According to The Weather Channel, Monday and Wednesday's highs should be around 70. While temperatures will hover in the upper 60s the rest of the week. There is a chance of afternoon showers on Monday.

2. Anne Arundel County Weekend News
Anne Arundel County police charged two teens in a shooting that occurred outside a home in Pasadena early Saturday morning, according to a press release.

Police said Ronald Lee McLeod, of Columbia and Daniel Alex Savage of Glen Burnie—both 18—were charged with first-degree murder in the Pasadena shooting on Saturday morning that claimed the life of 21-year-old Matthew Morrow and injured one other.

3. Enter Patch's Halloween Contest
Adults and children are eligible to enter Patch's Best Halloween Costume in America Contest. Parents can post costume photos of themselves and their families from this Halloween or from years past.

The contest runs from Oct. 15 to Nov. 1. National judges will choose 21 finalists from each Patch state and select one grand prize winner based on who has the most creative and innovative costume. Each state finalist will receive $250 and one grand prize winner will receive $5,000.

4. Congressional Candidates Forum for Districts 3 and 4
The League of Women Voters are hosting a congressional candidates forum at  Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church Monday night at 7 p.m. For more information see the event listing. 

5. Haunted Holy Grounds
The Severna Park Community Center will host their haunted house from 7-11 p.m. on Oct. 19-20 and from 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 21 at the Haunted Holy Grounds (623 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd.). Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
