5 Questions: Gordon Clement
The owner of Clement Hardware shares some of his favorite parts about doing business and living in Severna Park.
Patch: How long have you been in business, and why did you choose hardware?
Clement: My family started the business in 1965 and we've been in this location since 1969. I've worked here since 1978 and became an owner in 1996. My dad was an industrial engineer but he hated corporate life so he left and open the hardware store he always wanted.

Clement: I like really knowing the people in the community, as well as getting to be known. When people recognize me they are friendly.
Patch: What do you to relax when you're not at work?

Clement: I hang with my three kids. We fish, go boating and swim, and also like to vacation in New Hampshire.
Patch: What's the most rewarding part of your job?
Clement: The satisfaction that comes with seeing the relief on people's faces when they realize we can help them with their project.
Patch: What's the one thing you want people to know about Clement Hardware?
Clement: People tend to associate small businesses with high prices. With the level of service we have, I believe our prices are competitive. I see it especially with Architectural materials; some contractors think because we are small we will be the most expensive but often that's not the case.
