Smart Fit Kids Academy – More than just a Children’s After School Program!

Smart Fit Kids Academy is an after school program in Severna Park that serves Anne Arundel County schools. The program allows students to complete homework assignments, receive individual tutoring, and participate in fitness exercises after school. Students are picked up from their schools and transported to the Severna Park Community Center, where the program takes place.

Here is an opinion from a parent of a current Smart Fit Kids Academy student:

“The saying  “it takes a village” has never been more true than in today’s culture where, more often than not, one or both parents work full time.  It is out of necessity that we place our children in after school programs.  

This year my search for an afterschool program led me to Smart Fit Kids Academy.   The director described a program offering structure where my son would receive assistance with his homework, followed by group fitness activities.  The director also talked about the expectations of students participating in the program with an emphasis on developing discipline, respect and integrity. These are the qualities that I consider fundamental to my son growing into an intelligent, strong and thoughtful young adult and act as an extension of the values we encourage in our home.

Smart Fit Kids Academy has actually delivered on everything promised and more.  My child is developing study habits and is in an environment where the staff is caring and engaged with the students.  I receive daily reports regarding my son’s progress and areas of interest.  There are also academic and cultural opportunities for the students that extend beyond the basic program.  These consist of Spanish and Chinese language lessons, group service projects, music and individual tutoring.  The Smart Fit programs and exceptional staff are constantly evolving to meet the needs of the students.  As a parent, I feel extremely fortunate to have found an after school program where my son has fun and encouragement to be his best self!”
