BLOG: Maryland Primary is Tuesday, April 3
The Maryland Primary is coming up this week and there are two local first-time candidates who are running for National offices: Faith Loudon and Dan Bongino.
Maryland's primary date was changed by the legislature last year from September to April. That will take a lot of us by surprise, since for one thing there are not a lot of signs posted along the roadways. There are a couple of Democrat's signs; Muse who is running for Senate against Ben Cardin, and Wagner who is also running against Ben Cardin.
There are actually a total of 20 people running against Ben Cardin, which should give him a little angst, since he seems to have alienated his voter base with his low performance.
There are many Republicans running against Cardin and in Severna Park we have our own neighbor, Dan Bongino, who lives in Stewart's Landing and is the front-runner in the Republican primary. Dan is a former Secret Service agent who protected three presidents: Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Dan has a great resume and most importanty, he has a 'fire in his belly' to bring our country back in alignment with the visions of our forefathers. His wife, Paula is a first generation immigrant from Colombia, SA and has her own story about being raised in poverty.
You will see a few signs around town for Dan Bongino but that should be no indication of the support behind his candidacy. He's been receiving a lot of national press - free advertising by the way - on Fox News and CSNBC's Rachel Maddow, of all people - because of his experience as a Presidential detail Secret Service agent.

As a matter of fact, last Thursday when Mitt Romney came to Arbutus to speak, there were so many Bongino signs that Romney asked the Secret Service detail, "Who is this Bongino guy?" That little tidbit was passed along to Dan by his friends in the Service.
Dan Bongino has an office in the Cirelli Buidling, 534 Ritchie Hwy (between Goodyear Tire and Arundel Beach Rd.) on the second floor. His campaign shares the space with Faith Loudon, candidate for Congressional District 4, which now includes Severna Park.
Our other local candidate, Pasadena resident and long time political activist, is Faith Loudon who decided to run against Donna Edwards for Congress. Faith has long been known in local Republican political circles as the "go to" person when you want anything done. She recruits, organizes, encourages and now is doing all this for her own campaign. She's been endorsed by Republican big names including Governor Bob Ehrlich, Congressman Andy Harris, former Ambassador Ellen Sauerbrey and retired Congresswoman Marjorie Holt.
