The anniversary event will benefit the ALS Associa tion &ndash\; DC/MD/VA Chapter and a $1 donation per person is suggested . BGR The Burger Joint is located at 6250 Columbia Crossing Circle and D obbins Road\, \;Columbia\, MD 21045.\n \;\nALS is a progressive neuromuscular disease that occurs when motor nerve cells cease to functi on and die. There are 30\,000 people living with ALS in the United State s at any one time. Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with the diseas e and every 90 minutes someone passes away from ALS. In most cases a per son&rsquo\;s mind remains sharp and alert\; however\, voluntary muscle c ontrol becomes completely lost\, often resulting in total paralysis and the inability to speak. The average life expectancy for someone living w ith ALS is two to five years after diagnosis. There is currently no know n cause\, cure\, or means of prevention.\n \;\nBGR The Burger Joint selected the ALS Association &ndash\; DC/MD/VA Chapter as the beneficiar y of the anniversary event because owner Stacy Person&rsquo\;s mother su ccumbed to the disease in 1987. Mark Bucher\, corporate owner of BGR\, w ill be the guest chef on WBAL on June 16th demonstrating various grillin g techniques and promoting the anniversary event.
