More power to you if you can get this changed. I don't think that it will without raising ourRead More taxes, taking money out of the underfunded school budget, or both. If you start school later than kids will be coming home later from their after school activities. If they are coming home later than they are getting to their homework later. If homework is put off later then going to bed will be put off later. We all know that the homework load will increase as these same kids take more and more AP, Honors, and STEM classes.
Odenton Guy June 17, 2013 at 04:20 pm
So if school started 2 hours later your sons schedule would move up 2 hours...home at 7pm, homeworkRead More started at 9pm, then up to 8 hours of homework. He still would get the same little amount of sleep just at different times. Not a good justification for this.
RK June 17, 2013 at 04:39 pm
Thank you for your input Mother of 4 and Odenton Guy. At our high school, class finishes at 2:05pmRead More BUT many activities (sports, tutoring, orchestra/band practice, etc) don't start until 3pm or later--the coaches usually are coming from another job or the games/meets don't start until 4pm or later. So if school ended at 2:45 or 3pm, they still would start their activities on time, and the kids would still get home at the same time.

Buzz I agree with you but it is for a good cause. So with him doing this it might just let him sleepRead More better at night.
Buzz Beeler June 12, 2013 at 04:53 pm
Eastsider, yes it is a good cause but what angers me is that he is the one with the power to reallyRead More make a difference and not just provide lip service. He is a Congressman and if he does not take care of business for our vets who will. This is an event is good and I would not say a word if he was yelling and screaming in Congress to be the voice of these warriors. Even Mukulski is holding hearings and demanding action. Even if he spoke out about the President failing to designate the Fort Hood shooting as an act of terrorism instead of workplace violence and demand that those victims be able to receive the treatment they need, that would be something. Accountability, there has to be accountability and we see very little of that in Washington these days. That is why I feel compelled to speak out.

Ruppersberger's only concern is Ruppersberger. He's all hype and the typical liberal bs'er.

Tom, do you know of any monitoring data for Spa Creek? Last year there was a sampling site in SpaRead More by the SSA/Chart House area, but that's not appearing on the Operation Clearwater site lists for this year. Annap Yacht Club had kids swimming, fully immersed, right at the Spa Creek Bridge - what data will be available for this summer? And why wouldn't the city be funding or publicizing this as its well within City limits? Not on the City website that I could find....
Tom Zolper June 12, 2013 at 03:56 pm
Janet - good question. Have you talked to Sally Hornor who leads the testing for OperationRead More Clearwater? Her contact info is here - http://ola4.aacc.edu/sghornor/ My understanding is private folks ask Sally to be included in her testing. Perhaps whoever asked previously for testing at the Spa Creek Bridge did not make that request this year. But I am speculating. The county is required to test public beaches, and public swimming areas, but you also ask a great question about what constitutes a public swimming area. I'll try to get an answer on that one. Sally and other volunteers/groups test private swimming areas.
Nick Z. June 19, 2013 at 08:34 am
Just a reminder that federal spending cuts have severely cut into money for the water testingRead More program that sends out these alerts under the "BEACH Act". It is likely that more beaches will lose testing as cutting in DC continues.

Ike, thank you for your thoughts about my brother. I posted the link on the deaths by an awardRead More winning journalist. My brother and I have sat in the ER room all day waiting for him to be seen and it was packed. The article on the deaths is well documented. My problem is like a lot of other issues as in more of our troops being killed by an Afghan solider when he turned on them. I believe that is the seventh time that hss happened this year. Read the link from Mulski and what she had to say. It's clear there is a very serious problem with this backlog. It would akin to giving the IRS and award for them spending millions on their trips and conferences along with the current issues they are facing.

How has Congressman Andy Harris weighed in on this? Also, perhaps contact and ask MichaelRead More Collins (who writes the "Right Stuff" for the Capital newspaper). He is a resident of Annapolis, a retired naval CDR, and works as a policy analyst at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs

What is the difference between a politically charged link or study and a government charged...boughtRead More and paid for scientific study result..?
Chris W May 27, 2013 at 02:07 pm
Buck, the so called "Autisim link" with vaccines has been thoroughly disproven. TheRead More article you cite is based on junk science. There was only one study that showed a link and it was simply because the "scientist" falsified the research. A ocomplete history is linked below: http://theweek.com/article/index/242395/autism-and-vaccines-a-timeline-of-the-dubious-theory-and-the-ongoing-debate People cling to the one fake study because they want to believe there is a link. I think the sleep study issue is a bit different.

No you're right jag how could I be so foolish. All we're doing is adjusting for inflation....ofRead More course. Owe'malley's campaign theme for 2016 can be "let me do to America what I've done to Maryland". According to your link MD is still in the highest 25% of states in taxes. Taxes don't rise with inflation like goods and services do for your information. If that were the case they could only go up and never down. Or maybe that's the way you want it.
jag May 23, 2013 at 06:31 pm
Amark, you appear to be confused. "Taxes don't rise with inflation like goods and services doRead More for your information." No, when they are a percentage, they don't need to rise with inflation. However, when a tax is a set $ amount, e.g. a 20 cent fuel tax, the buying power of that 20 cents continues to degrade, over time, according to the rise in inflation. Hence the need to raise the tax from time to time (20 years was far too long to wait). Alternatively, you can simply peg the tax to inflation so it automatically adjusts, which is what the GA (smartly) decided to do this time around. Get it now?

Thanks so much for providing this information, I am sure it will be helpful for lots of people.Read More Unfortunately, lots of consumers just lack financial literacy and don’t know basic things about their credit. Before applying for a loan check your credit score to understand if you have a chance to be approved. Order a copy of a credit report because it should not contain any mistakes. If you are going to use http://northenloans.ca/short-term-loans.html then it can be easy but if you are going to take out a low interest personal loan then keep in mind that it can be a long process and you need to get ready for meeting a lender.

I am now using Naturally Greener Landscaping for my yard. My yard looks better than ever and theirRead More prices are better than I was paying other providers. Not sure about mowing because I usually cut my own yard, but they are very competitive for treatments and mulching, flowers etc.

i was hoping this thread would answer the original question: "how much are you paying for lawnRead More service". Terms like "competitive pricing", "better prices", etc. tell me nothing. Anyone else out there?
