The most targeted area in Severna Park for sign attacks and removals has been on Balt-Annap Blvd. across from the shopping center with the Rita's Italian Ice. It's a privately owned little strip known as Winkelmeyer's and the owners have been fighting a battle to keep the signs on their property since the primary back in April. So they asked for bigger signs that would not be easily removable and this time the vandals have spray painted the large Romney sign. About 10 days before that someone had cut the steel leg of the Faith Loudon sign on the property.
And before anyone suggests that it was our county executive, let me say...I doubt it. Neither of these people are his opponents. (Haha...just joking....I had to say it because you know someone will!) My guess is that the teenagers just can't help themselves. The targeted location on B&A is a cut-through between the trail and Rita's with lots of foot traffic.
The other very large Romney sign is across from the high school in someone's front lawn. Shame on whoever is destroying these signs and shame on them for trespassing to do it. As we all now know since our county executive is in hot water for allegedly desroying campaign signs, it is a federal offense and will be treated seriously if one should be caught.
