WoodsWorkers Heading to North Carolina

Area youth and adults will head to North Carolina later this month to build three Habitat for Humanity homes.

Last month, nearly 500 cars showed up at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church for the WoodsWork group’s only fundraiser—its annual car wash.

Since that time, youth have been out in the community gathering pledges to raise enough money to go on WoodsWork’s 28th annual mission trip to Marshville, NC, departing on June 25. Once there, the 174 volunteers, youth and adults, will build three houses in five days, according to a news announcement.

“Our generous community is what makes a trip like this possible,” said WoodsWork’s Jake Kerrigan in the news announcement. “We are grateful for their support.”

Warren Klug, the senior co-chair of the event, will complete his last WoodsWork this year along with 30 of his peers.

“For many of us, WoodsWork is the highlight of our summer and an important part of our faith journey. I am glad to have had this experience,” Klug said in the announcement.

WoodsWork began 28 years ago and works with a different Habitat for Humanity affiliate to build homes for families. For more information, visit www.woodschurch.org.
