If you've passed through Jumpers Hole Road in Severna Park,  you've surely seen a construction crew hard at work on a four-story building across from Severna Park Middle School.

Brightview is a 141-apartment community for seniors that will provide maintenance-free independent living, assistant living and memory care when it opens in the fall.

The full breakdown of space allocation includes:

  • 71 independent living apartments
  • 46 assisted living apartments
  • 24 Alzheimer's and memory care apartments

Brightview's Executive Director Frank Krohnert said they started taking reservations for apartments in December, and things have been moving along speedily. Krohnert said seniors in the area are gravitating to Brightview because of its all-inclusive package and its location.

"There is interest and a need here. Because the thing we hear all the time is, 'We want to live in Severna Park,'" he said. "People have family here, they have churches here, their lives are here."

Seniors living at Brightview will benefit from a movie theatre, cafe, planned activities, housekeeping and linen services, and a team of over 100 nurses.

The project broke ground in September 2012, and is scheduled for completion in the fall.

I think there is a need here in SP. Just hope they finish soon. What's going on with the mess of the roads at the corner of Jumpers and Benfield Rd??
