Victoria’s Fancy Food Announces Chocolate Olympic Contestants

The annual chocolate contest will be held on Feb. 9.

Victoria’s Fancy Foods has announced its contestants for the upcoming Chocolate Olympics.

The fourth annual Chocolate Olympics, traditionally held the Saturday before Valentine’s Day, will take place on Feb. 9. On Tuesday, owner Victoria Stagmer released the names of the contestants.

Each contestant is assigned a country to represent for the event; however, Stagmer said the chocolate dessert they create doesn’t have to be associated with that country.

The official contestants for the Fourth Annual Chocolate Olympics are as follows:

  • Julie Gassaway— Jamaica
  • Tara Benson—Thailand
  • Ellie Barna—Egypt
  • Ilene Nathan— Iceland
  • Ryan Stevenson— Romania
  • Michelle Lyon— Mexico
  • Desiree Williams— Denmark
  • Art Allison— Austria
  • Stephanie Graves— Sweden

The contestants all volunteered for the endeavor and were picked on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each person will make a chocolate dessert of their choosing, offer samples, and give out a recipe for their creation.

The actual event is free and open to the public. People can come and taste the desserts and then vote for their favorite one. The top three winners will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals along with other prizes.

The Chocolate Olympics will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Feb. 9 at Victoria’s Fancy Foods.
