Update: Trial Date Set in Family Violence Incident
The 21-year-old Millersville man accused of stabbing his mother will go to trial in January.

James Arthur Zito, the 21-year-old Millersville man who allegedly stabbed his mother and then fled the home, will go to trial on Jan. 22.
On July 30, police responded to a family violence call in the 700 block of Stacy Oak Way where a 54-year-old woman was suffering from multiple stab wounds.
According to police, a preliminary investigation indicated that Zito suddenly became violent for unknown reasons and restrained two family members inside the home before later stabbing his mother multiple times in the upper body. He then fled.
Police searched for Zito and found him in Glen Burnie on July 31.
According to an online case search, Zito is charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, false imprisonment, arson threat and having a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure.
Zito had a status conference scheduled for Nov. 16.
“The status conference allows for the prosecution and defense to come together and inform the court of where the case will be going,” said Kristin Fleckenstein, spokeswoman for State's Attorneys office.
Zito will have a criminal jury trial on Jan. 22 at 9 a.m.
