Sidewalk Installation Closes Lane on Ritchie Highway
A lane on Route 2 northbound was closed Wednesday while crews worked on building a sidewalk.
Those traveling along Ritchie Highway in Severna Park may have noticed a lane closed today. The closure was so crews could add sidewalks along Route 2.
Bob Rager, a spokesman for the State Highway Administration, said a group called Image Asphalt is putting in a new sidewalk along northbound Route 2 between McKinsey Road and Robinson Road.
“The whole job is going to run probably into October,” Rager said. “The sidewalk we expect to be in place in about a week and a half. We want to put pedestrian access there since it is right around the shopping center.”
Rager said the work will be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and shouldn’t involve any night work.
“The concrete should be down in a week and a half,” Rager said. “We are also putting in pedestrian signals. These are going be at the corner of McKinsey and Route 2 and Robinson Road and Route 2.”
Rager said they have been installing sidewalks along Route 2 where they feel there is a need, and when the projects can get the proper funding.

1st - Typo Paragraph 5, “We are also putting in pedestrian singles..." Should be signals?
Its about time we get some sidewalks along that side, we need to get SP more walkable.

I agree! I'ts about time we have more sidewalks! We also need sidewalks on Hoyle Lane and on Jumpers Hole by the middle school. Keep it going!
