Savvy Home Consignments Opening in March

Stacey Cassidy, owner of Savvy Consignments, is opening another shop focusing on home furnishings and accessories.

There's going to be more "savvy" coming to Severna Park in March as small business owner and Severna Park resident Stacey Cassidy opens her second shop in the Severna Park Village Shopping Center.

Cassidy also owns Savvy Consignments, a clothing and accessories store in the same shopping center.

Savvy Home is "official," Cassidy reported to Patch on Tuesday. The new shop will occupy the former Arundel Antiques shop whose owner, Paul Mintz, died suddenly in November. Cassidy said construction started on Saturday and the buildout will take a few weeks. She hopes to be open the first week of March.

"In this economy, everyone wants to make an extra buck and to save a buck. Consignment is such a great way to do that," Cassidy wrote in an email. "I also strive to educate consumers how important it is to support the community and shop local."

Savvy Home will accept home decor, household furnishings and accessories as consignments Monday through Friday. For large items, Cassidy said a prior look will be needed prior to accepting them at the store and furniture will be accepted by appointment.

Consignments stay for 90 days and its a 50-50 split. Markdowns will start after 30 days and then 60 days, Cassidy said.

The tentative hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m. 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m Saturday.
