Q&A: Rock 'n' Roll Revival's Riley Lewis

Riley Lewis is a dancer in this year's Rock 'n' Roll Revival at Severna Park High School.

Rock 'n' Roll Revival XXIV at Severna Park High School kicked off March 1 to rave reviews and created all sorts musical excitement around the school.

Patch stopped by a dress rehearsal to talk with a few members of the cast and crew about the show, what made them want to join, and why Rock 'n' Roll is so popular at SPHS.

Riley Lewis, a senior, is in five dance numbers.

Severna Park Patch: What is your favorite song in the production?
Riley Lewis: “
Dancing in the Moonlight”— that’s my favorite one to dance in and I think “Come on Eileen” is the general favorite. We all sing it behind stage while they are up there

Severna Park Patch: Why should people come see the show?
Lewis: It’s a great mix of people and it is fun showing that we can enjoy a whole range of music. It’s just great and so much fun.

Severna Park Patch: What else do you do at school besides Rock ‘n’ Roll?
Lewis:
I am in dance company so I have done concerts before, but nothing this extravagant.

Severna Park Patch: Why did you want to be in Rock ‘n’ Roll Revival?
Lewis:
I have seen it all my life because I live down the road and it has always looked so awesome. I always wanted to be in it and this is my first year making it.

Severna Park Patch: What are your plans for next year?
Lewis:
I’m not really sure yet.

Rock 'n' Roll Revival will continue to run March 15-16; however, all performances are sold out. "Stand-by" tickets may be available to performances on Friday and Saturday—see the parent volunteers at "will call" 45 minutes before curtain time.

Jane,
"You can't dance and stay uptight - It's a supernatural delight, everybody dancing in the moonlight"
Turth is sometimes complex. But simple truths can span generations.
We're glad she was dancing to it too.

Hi Dot,
Thanks so much for the invitation. Sounds like you have some great young talent there. We would love to if it were possible but we recently lost Doc, our lead singer, and Eddie, our guitarist, lives in Tasmania(!) We'll probably join some friends for a benefit this summer when he's in the states, but otherwise we're "off the road". Thanks again for thinking of us.
