Police: Drivers in 4-Death Crash Were Drunk

Both drivers in Saturday's quadruple fatal Maryland Route 50 accident were drunk, according to NBC4 in Washington.
The TV station reported Wednesday that 19-year-old Brittany Ann Walker and 55-year-old Terry Wayne Davis were both drunk when they crashed. Walker, a 2010 Meade High School graduate, had two 18-year-old passengers, who also died: Breanna Marie Franco, a Severna Park High School graduate, and Zachary Tyler Rose, a 2011 Meade graduate.
Maryland State Police released 911 recordings from prior to the crash, when callers reported Walker's car to be driving the wrong way in the fast lane on Interstate 97, the Associated Press reported.
Davis is also from Severna Park, but he and Franco weren't the only tragic deaths the town endured in the last eight days. A baseball coach and janitor at the high school also died unexpectedly.

Tragic and stupid. Probably had either of these drivers been sober they might all still be alive, but their wreckless disregard for other motorists brought them together. No doubt we will be inundated with folks defending their actions. It seems nobody can believe their friends would drive drunk. Let's hope some good comes of this tragedy. If just one person learns to think twice before drinking and driving these lost lives will not have been totally wasted.

I think the driver going the wrong way has the responsibility. You dont have to be drunk to die from a head on collision.

What I meant is that if either of those drivers had been sober he/she might have taken evasive action to avoid the collision. I certainly agree that the immediate cause was the car headed the wrong way.

I hope parents will use this as a lesson to their kids also to willing to get their kid no questions asked instead of getting in the car with someone who has been drinking.

A 19 year old who wants to drink is going to get alcohol one way or another and trying to shift the blame to someone else is inappropriate in this instance. Sadly, even as adults we sometimes have poor judgement and need to take responsibility for our own actions. We're not talking about a toddler who picked up a half can of beer left on a table.

I don't know these people, and my heart is truly breaking for the families. My wife lost her father in a car accident many years ago and I know the heart ache. What's done is done, no one can change it, and I think it's normal to want to "blame" and "what if" it all day long. Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast The First Stone. Pray for the families...

I am sorry for the families. I don.t know the circumstances surrounding the upbringing of the teens. I do, however observe parents who are constantly drinking in front of their children -- at birthday parties, picnics, grad parties, trick or treating with the children -- and even talking about needing a drink to chill out. What message is that giving to the kids. I am not a purist. But I do believe that drinking should be limited to adult parties and hosts should be held responsible for letting guest leaving drunk

The police are in the process of doing an investigation to see who supplied these kids with alcohol.
