On Tuesday afternoon and early evening high winds and heavy rainfall ripped through the Severna Park area.

The storm downed power lines and tree limbs across the area and forced Anne Arundel County Public Schools to cancel all after-school activities.

A few Severna Park Facebook users commented that they lost power during the afternoon storm. As of 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, many residents were still without electricity.

"We lost power down Riverdale at 4:00!! Still waiting," wrote Deborah Gardner.

Added Frannie Vaughn "No power on Inverness SP since 3:45pm. Every time the wind blows it's out!"

Shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday, power in Anne Arundel County was restored to 3,361 customers, while 3,174 were still experiencing outages concentrated in Crofton, Gambrills, Pasadena, Severna Park and Glen Burnie, according to Baltimore, Gas and Electric Co. officials.
