Wondering how to tell her she's the best mom ever? Well, there are plenty of options to help you get that done right here in Severna Park.
Patch will be highlighting locally owned shops this week to help you decide on that unique gift. Saturday, the day before Mother's Day, is "Shop Local" day here in the park. Presented by the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce, participating merchants will donate 5 percent of their sales to a nonprofit.
Barbara Daniels owner of Side Street Framers in Park Plaza has her gift gallery ready for Mother's Day shoppers with framed art and photos, jewelry, pottery, note cards, decorated wine glasses and more.
Many of the items are created by local artists, including the popular silver and beaded jewelry and watches by artist Donna White.
For the fashionably late, Daniels suggested a leather "wrap" band watch created by White for $29. The faces are fun, some studded with gems, others more subdued.
"They are fun and affordable," Daniels said.
Another favorite she's having trouble keeping in the store are whimsical plaques made out of recycled materials with uplifting phrases and drawings by a Georgia artist. These are priced from $25 to $55.
"I can't get enough of these in," Daniels said.
Did you know: Side Street Framers are considered "shadow box specialists" which means they are experts in the process of taking mementos and framing them as gifts. The shop started this service many decades ago and is known for their work in creating this type of framed art. The shop now serves clients throughout the country and overseas.
