Kirsten's Bakery Headed for Sweet Success in Severna Park

A new bakery opened last Saturday in Park Plaza featuring custom cakes, cupcakes and cookies.

The shop with cheerfully bright pink walls invites customers in to Kirsten's Cakery, the new bakery that opened on April 2 in Park Plaza where an official ribbon-cutting was held with family, friends and community leaders.

Owner Kirsten Klein, 31, a baker of 20 years, started her cake decorating business nine years ago. The Pasadena resident was busy baking in her kitchen, making custom cakes and cupcakes for all occasions, before deciding on opening a shop in Severna Park.

"I wanted something close to home," said Klein.

The Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce, represented by Linda Zahn, CEO, was on hand with the oversized scissors and ribbon as many family members, including uncles and cousins, watched as Klein cut the ribbon.

Citations from the county, BWI Airport, the sheriff's office and the House of Delegates were presented to Klein along with a chamber plaque and a rose from Severna Flowers & Gifts.

"It's great. She has the mind for it.  She'll do fine," said Eric Stephens of Pasadena.
