Former Falcon Volleyball Standout Shines at Washington College
Kate Liccione, a former member of Severna Park High School's volleyball team, finished her second season at Washington College.
Former Severn Park volleyball standout Kate Liccione has just finished her second successful season at Washington College. The sophomore defensive specialist played in all 27 matches for the Shorewomen in 2012.
Liccione led the team in digs for a second straight year with 325, while adding 38 assists and 28 service aces, according to the Washington College athletic department.
Liccione had three matches where she recorded 20 or more digs, including a season-best 23 at Goucher on Oct. 11. The sophomore served up a career-best eight service aces versus Cedar Crest on Sept. 1 at Gettysburg.
In September, Liccione spoke with Patch about her upcoming season and said she wanted to improve on her serving game.
"This year I want to do better at serve/receive because I know that not only me, but all volleyball players struggle with passing," Liccione said.
In her freshman year, Liccione led the team in digs with 332 and was fourth on the squad in service aces with 26.
