Construction on Route 2 Continues, Expect Delays

On Monday crews were working at the intersection of Ritchie Highway and McKinsey Road.

An effort to increase pedestrian safety along Ritchie Highway was continuing to cause traffic delays Monday morning.

If you have been driving up Ritchie Highway lately you may have noticed orange cones and construction crews. That scene continued on Monday as workers install sidewalks and pedestrian signals along Route 2.

As of Monday morning, crews had cones set up and a lane closed on McKinsey Road at Ritchie Highway. Drivers turning onto McKinsey from Route 2 drove into a makeshift lane created by cones, which was causing delays.

In September, Patch reported that the State highway Administration said they were installing the sidewalks along Ritchie Highway and putting in a pedestrian signal at the corner of McKinsey and Route 2 and Robinson Road and Route 2.
