Chocolate lovers won't want to miss a free taste test of recipes from around the world at the third annual Chocolate Olympics at Victoria's Fancy Foods.
The event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 11, when nine contestants representing different countries will compete for the gold, silver and bronze medals.
Victoria Stagmer, shop owner of the shop located in the Mariner Plaza on Ritchie Highway, said the countries represented are: Monaco, Egypt, Argentina, Canada, Thailand, Mexico, Kenya, Ireland and Aruba.
"All desserts are made by hand from each contestant, but do not have to be from their country, Stagmer said in an email to Patch. "The country part is to keep the games more 'Olympic,' if you will."
Returning chocolate champion Caroline Nold, who is representing Canada, is back to defend her title of two years running with the gold.
Can Nold take the top prize for a third time?
This tasty event is free to the community to come and be a yum-yum judge and vote for your favorite chocolate dessert. The medals are awarded according to amount of votes each dessert receives, Stagmer said.
