Board of Education Seeks Applicants for Student Member
An information meeting will be held for high school juniors interested in becoming the student member on the school board.
Are you a local high school student who wants to have your voice heard? If so, consider becoming the student member for the Anne Arundel County Board of Education.
High school juniors in good academic standing can get more information on becoming the 2012-2013 student member on the board at an informational meeting on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.
Anne Arundel County’s student member of the board is the only one in the nation on a local board who has full voting rights. The nomination process for next year’s student selection begins on Feb. 1 and ends at 5 p.m. on Feb. 15, according to an Anne Arundel County Public Schools press release.
The student candidate who wins will be elected by the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils on March 12. The candidate's name will then be forwarded to Gov. Martin O’Malley, who must make the appointment.
Wednesday’s informational meeting will take place in the Board Room at the Parham Building, located at 2644 Riva Rd. in Annapolis.
