Barranco Obituary: Claude Stripling

Claude W. Stripling, a member of Severna Park Rotary, died Sunday, Nov. 18. He was 91.

Claude Stripling: Claude W. Stripling, 91, died Sunday, November 18, 2012, at his home in Riderwood Village, Silver Spring, Md. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on Dec. 9, 1920. His parents were Claude W. Stripling and Nettie Cureton Stripling. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Stegall of Searcy, Arkansas and his parents. Claude is survived by his wife of 48 years, Theresa E. Stripling; one daughter, Lynda Zecca of Murieta, California; three step-children, David L. Jacobs of Houston, Texas, Mark D. Jacobs of Arnold, Md., and Elaine Dorrel of Brookville, Indiana, and one sister Martha Erwin of Centennial, Colorado. Claude was proud of and devoted to his thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Severna Park Rotary and the Bristol Sailing Association when living in Severna Park, Md. As a young man, Claude was pastor of The First Baptist Church in Kountz, Texas. Later, he moved to Baltimore to accept a position as Civil Service Investigator; then, with Social Security Administration for many years. Claude was an astute businessman and appraiser. His many relatives and friends will miss his well-timed sense of humor and his unique approach to life.
