Edward James Streiff: Edward James Streiff, CMDR, USN (RET), 64, a resident of Severna Park died Sept. 11 after a battle with a rare brain disease.

Ed was born Dec. 13, 1947 in Pittsburgh, Pa. He graduated from California State College and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1970 and served until 1996 as a naval intelligence officer rising to the rank of commander. During his years of service he was awarded the: Meritorious Unit Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Expert Pistol Shot, National Defense Service Medal and Overseas Service Medal. Ed was in the foreign service for seven years and was fluent in two other languages, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

James Monaghan Jr.: James Carl Monaghan Jr., 69, of Annapolis, died suddenly at Laurel Regional Hospital on Friday.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1942 in Baltimore and raised in Riviera Beach and has been a resident of Annapolis for the past 50 years.

He married Marlene Miller Monaghan on May 4, 1963.

David William Michael:

Sgt. David William Michael, Maryland State Police, Ret., 70, a longtime resident of Pasadena, died at his home Monday after a valiant battle with lung cancer.

David was born on Feb. 18, 1942 in Baltimore, he was the son of William and Margaret Michael. He graduated from Edmondson High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Army National Guard prior to beginning his career with the Maryland State police on July 5, 1966.
