Update: Atlanta Bread Company Fixtures, Furniture, Equipment in Online Auction

Abrupt departure of popular Severna Park eating establishment has many customers wondering: What's up?

Update: As of 5 p.m. Thursday, no call backs from property management company nor Atlanta Bread headquarters. In the meantime, a tip came to the Patch concerning an online auction of all Atlanta Bread Company (Severna Park location) fixtures, furniture, kitchen and cafe equipment with bidding started on May 27 and ending June 24. This tells us that the closing was a done deal as of last Friday.

A plain white paper sign taped to the doors of the Atlanta Bread Company conveyed bad news to customers on Wednesday. "Closed" was the message, leaving many surprised (and hungry) while wondering, what's up with that?

At dusk on Wednesday evening,  a young couple walked up to the door and read the closed sign.

They were hoping to try the buffalo chicken, recently added to the menu. The two said they were shocked and said although they didn't stop there often, it was disappointing to see it closed. A car then  pulled up, noticed the sign and shuttered windows and drove off.

Mukesh Kapoor of expressed surprise at the abrupt closing of his neighbor and is concerned for the future of the store at its current location. He said the owner was working with the management company on negotiating a new lease/rent.

"I'm not sure what the status is," he said.

Customer Eric Anderson said he would be disappointed to see the liquor store close.

"All the guys are great here, very friendly and they beat everyone price-wise," he said.

Next door is The store is moving across the highway to Park Plaza, its last day at their current location is June 20. According to an employee, Petco will be moving in.

Patch did get a heads up on the possible closing of Atlanta Bread Company. It came in via email on Tuesday from a reader. I followed up with a phone call, talked to one of the staffers who said they would be open as usual on Wednesday, same hours, until 9 p.m.

Stay tuned, we will be updating this story.
