Each week, Patch takes a look at one of our great neighborhood eateries and lets you know what’s on the menu for tonight. This week’s selection is Adam’s Ribs - the Place for Ribs (http://www.adamsribs.com/).
If the traditional St. Paddy’s Day fare of corned beef and cabbage isn’t your thing, consider heading over to Adam’s Ribs, located at the intersection of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. and McKinsey Road in Severna Park, for something else mouth-watering good. And the bar will be open, as always, if you want a green beer to go with that - no kissing of the Blarney Stone necessary.
Although the newly renovated and enlarged restaurant specializes in ribs with their own special sauce, it also offers seafood, steak, chicken and salads among other things. Some specialty items off the menu include baby back ribs, buffalo wings, crab cakes, grilled tuna, strip steak and steamed shrimp.
And very much like the television sitcom Cheers - everyone knows your name at this family-friendly establishment. If that’s not enough to make you feel the love, you probably already know your server’s name too.
Most of the young leprechauns serving you are Severna Park residents themselves who were raised on Adam’s ribs. And the couple in the next booth are probably your neighbors - your Irish neighbors of course.
You don’t need to bring along your pot o’ gold either. The most expensive menu item, a 8 oz. choice cut of tenderloin, costs $20. And baby back ribs can be had for $15.
But be prepared and bring along a four-leaf clover. If you arrive at the height of the dinner hour, you may need the luck of the Irish to nap a table quickly as it seems most of ‘The Park’ residents had the same idea on what to have for dinner tonight. And corned beef and cabbage will be a special on the menu for those Irish folk amongst us.
Adam’s Ribs has other locations around the area, including Edgewater, Fruitland/Salisbury, Annapolis/Eastport, Prince Frederick and Kent Island. The original location in Edgewater has been owned and operated by the family since 1965. Since then, Adam's has sold more than 200,000 pounds of ribs per year. The restaurant also offers full catering services, carry-out and lunchtime hours.
