MD Rush SWOOSH 99 U13 girls soccer team was recently crowned Champion in the 20th annual Dillsburg Dual Shoot Out soccer tournament in Dillsburg, PA.  Sixteen teams formed four groups with each team playing three games to determine seed positions.  Three playoff games led up to the championship match.  Swoosh 99 swept the entire series with seven straight shut-out games in their first appearance in the Dillsburg Dual.

For the seed positioning games Swoosh shut out two Pennsylvania teams and one Maryland team with a combined score of 8-0.  The scoring shots were fired by Caitie Milley (2), Casey Lowry, Michaela Lauterbach, Alley Fox (2), Alana Marshall and Elizabeth Kiely with assists by Alley, Alana, Elizabeth, Caitie (3), Jewelz Fox and Bianca Addivinola.

The first round playoff game pitted Swoosh against Maryland team AFC Storm from Abingdon.  Goals by Alley, Cassie Wolfe and Nichole Fish with an assist by Alley gave Swoosh a solid 3-0 win.  In the second playoff game Swoosh beat Pennsylvania’s 6th rank FC Amity Blaze 1-0 with the goal by Alana, assisted by Bianca.  The semi-final game against Quakerstown’s Phantom was another tense match ending in a 1-0 final after a score by Caitie assisted by Alley.

The championship game was a rematch of Swoosh v. Phantom with another 1-0 score when Olivia Davis made sure the corner kick from Alana sank deep into the goal.

Swoosh’s incredible defense, led by goalie Samantha Baysic, held the competition to 7 shots on goal for the entire tournament.  The defense is rounded out by Cassie, Jewelz, Nicole, Chloe MacDonald, Kenzie Spiegel and Rachel Chiurazzi.  Additional midfielders Sydney McConkey and Carly Crehan both contributed to the Swoosh success.  The Swoosh players are from Pasadena, Severna Park and Annapolis.

Swoosh 99 began as U7 Pink Panthers playing under the St. Jane Soccer Club in the county league.  As a U10 team the Pink Panthers moved to the Central Maryland Small Side League (CMSSL).  As a U11 team the Pink Panthers moved to the Baltimore Beltway Soccer League (BBSL) taking 1st place in their age division.  As a U12 team the Pink Panthers made the transition to play under the Maryland Rush moniker, changed their name to Swoosh 99 and entered the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS) where they currently play in Division 2.  Swoosh 99 also competes in the US Club Soccer National Premier League’s Eastern Development Program against teams from New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
