9 or 10 year olds, 50+ games 6-8 Tournaments, year round practice? I commend you for volunteering to coach youth sports (I hope you are volunteering) Kids definitely need the corp of volunteers in sports & other activities or many of those activities wouldn't be possible....

but really who are you kidding, change the one line to read: We are looking for parents who want their kid to play at an advanced level and are willing to commit to the schedule and fees of a travel team..... because most of the time little Johnny who is 9 has no idea what his parents are commiting him to

Good luck with your team, lets hope that little Johnny isn't burnt out on baseball by the time he is 12

Definitely a volunteer!!. Have been for years. I truly appreciate your opinion. Our primary goal is to have fun. As a kid and now as a coach, games/ tournaments are where the fun is not practices. This is why that was outlined. Finally even though you would think the fees to be high, it is a mere $150 for the year. This includes fall ball, winter workouts and spring season/tournaments. Other travel teams in the area have far higher fees but with our strong community assistance/sponsorships and great parents we are able to offer all of this for the cost of a traditional 10-12 game in house program.

Sometimes people assume its the parents pushing kids. Often it is quite the opposite. I was never a big sports player. One year of little league, a few years of soccer and that's it.

From the time my younger son was 3, he was fascinated by baseball. He begged to play t-ball for two years before he was old enough to play. We signed him up for t-ball as soon as he was old enough and he has played ever since. He played his first tournament tis past season and is doing 10U travel this year with GORC.

I'm not sure I'm ready, but I know he is.
